Hi, I'm Mary Beth Temple and I'm here to talk to you about the care and keeping of your gauge swatch. Now, I know a lot of people don't like to do them, but if you want something that fits, you have to make a gauge swatch. One of the things I want you to do after you have made your gauge swatch is treat it the way you're going to treat your finished project. If you're making a blanket and you're gonna throw that bad boy in the washer and then the dryer do the same thing to the gauge swatch before you measure. If you're making a beautiful sweater and you're going to hand wash it and roll it in a jelly roll and dry it flat, do that to the gauge swatch before you measure and especially with lace stitches. Treat that gauge swatch the way you're going to treat the finished project to avoid any kind of unpleasantness. Once you wash it the first time.
